Anne-Marie: Thanks for sharing this great article. What’s even more amazing is a lot of these foods are in turn fed to the animals we eat like chicken and beef. So frustrating as they are NOT labeled with the GMO’s. The only products right now that are guaranteed to be GMO free are organic foods. Working on a weekly post for the examiner.com on this subject. Hope it will help out: http://www.examiner.com/organic-food-in-washington-dc/organics-101-what-is-the-difference-between-conventional-and-organic-produce
Love this infographic..goes along with our tagline..”Your Cheat Sheet For Everything”. I’ve added this post to my list of “Trader Joe’s on a Diet”. This is a great quick reference for those who need some extra education around reading labels. http://www.skinnyscoop.com/list/claudia/trader-joes-on-a-diet
Foods certified as organic must be produced using growing methods that minimize soil erosion and that maintain or enhance the fertility of the soil. Organic meat, poultry, eggs and dairy products come from animals that are given no antibiotics or growth hormones, must be fed organic feed and have access to the outdoors.
