Fat Smash Apple Crisp

Two staples of my diet whether I’ve been on Weight Watchers or the Extreme Fat Smash diet has been oatmeal and apples. The combination is great for breakfast or a quick, healthy dessert – lots of fiber, too!

Fat Smash Apple Crisp
Preparation time: 10 minutes

Apple_crispIngredients:

  • 1 cup chopped apples
    1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup instant oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions:

  1. Place chopped apples in a microwave safe dish. (This would be a great dish to cook up in GLAD’s SimplyCooking microwave steaming bags.)
  2. Sprinkle with cinnamon and toss to coat. Microwave on high for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add dry oats and water, and microwave for 1 minute more.
  4. Stir well before serving.

(If it’s not sweet enough for you, sprinkle a little sugar substitute, like Equal, on top.)

I’m on a bit of a diet too (but not much), and love oats. I only like them with milk though, which I suppose would ruin the recipe!

Scott, a cup of skim milk is only 2 Weight Watcher points. Since that would drown this recipe, I suggest 1/4 to 1/2 cup of skim milk instead. Shouldn’t add too many calories/fat at all.

mmmmmm yum oatmeal apples and cinnamon – three of my favorites, I like to add a touch of vanilla to my oatmeal

thst is the coolest name for an apple crisp I have ever heard!! I’ll have to try it with quinoa (gluten-free fare) and see if it would be terrific! Thanks for the great recipe!!
