Many people use social networks to help them with their weight loss and health and wellness goals. However, others need the support of a community that’s focused on health and well being to achieve those goals. That’s where CafeWell comes in. It’s a FREE social network dedicated to helping people get well and stay well by providing a fun, safe and anonymous environment to improve their health.
I love learning about social networks like this as there’s nothing like support – whether online or off – to lose weight or live a healthier lifestyle, especially when you don’t have the support of others around you.
In addition, CafeWell is partnering with large health plans like Altius to bridge the gap between health plans and their members. It serves to help educate them on healthcare and to improve member perception of their health plan.
However, your health plan doesn’t need to be a partner in order to joing. You can sign up to be a member CafeWell on your own to get free advice, tips, and motivation from Olympic athletes, health and wellness, and diet and nutrition experts. Members not only get support, but they have a place to go to get their health and wellness questions answered – anonymously and securely.
If you are an Altius health care member, you can join their Reach for the Peaks program. It’s a program that encourages activity and includes regular prizes and acknowledgements for doing well. If you’re eligible to join, you’ll receive a wireless pedometer and the support you’ll need to help you become and stay more active.
It’s wonderful to get a health plan that comes with the support that CafeWell offers – or to find an online community to motivate you. Members agree as shown in these testimonials:
“I never thought that I was competitive before. Now I am counting steps and enjoying seeing them add up. My husband was actually teasing me a little and telling me that I was competitive after all… It has been fun to encourage each other to get more steps in each day. It is also fun to see the medals add up. I don’t know whose idea it was to get this program started, but it was a great one. I sure hope everyone else is enjoying this health competition to get healthy!”
“So today I am taking a step forward to get off the couch and become healthy. I am overweight, underpaid and not so full of energy! I know if I think I can, I CAN! AND I WILL!”
How could CafeWell help you live a healthier lifestyle?
