You know how often I see people pick a drink because it "has juice in it" so it must be healthy? Um, not really. So many juice drinks are nothing but water, sugar and a little bit of juice – as seen below in today’s infographic.
If you’re thirsty, the best thing you can do is drink water. If must have juice, pick something that’s 100% juice – or buy a juicer and make your own so you know exactly what you’re drinking.
To reduce the calories in 100% juice, you can dilute it with water or add seltzer to it to make a fizzy drink. Another healthier choice is picking a juice drink like Trop50, which has half the calories and sugar of regular juice and is sweetened with stevia, a natural no calorie sweetener.

I love trop 50. I don’t like the super sweet taste off all that juice and the trop 50 I can actually drink without chasing it down with water. One of my favorite things is a infused water pitcher I got for Christmas. My new drink is cucumber water…it makes me feel like I’m at the spa.
Dawn, I’ll have to check out infused water pitchers! Such a cool idea!!
We rarely purchase juice. I feel it really is just empty calories. I’d rather have some milk or tea.
Check out how much sugar is in milk…might be as surprising as juice
I always make it a point to increase my water consumption rather than opting for flavored drinks. If I must drink, I would rather choose fresh juices.
Fruit drinks are high in sugar but it usually isn’t added sugars like in soda. That being said I try to buy 100% fruit juice mostly. I do buy OJ with calcium added for my dairy allergic daughter. We bought a juicer in January and LOVE it! I love making our own fresh juices and the kids love it too. Even when I sneak in veggies they still love the juice I make.
Jennifer, I also buy the calcium fortified juices for my daughter who doesn’t like milk. And juicing? I love it, too! Mine’s in storage right now because we’re moving, but there’s nothing like fresh juice and fun combinations you come up with on your own.
