Anyone on a weight loss plan knows that meals that are high in fiber and protein keep us satisfied – or satiated – longer because they promote and prolong the release of CCK, the hormone that tells your brain you feel full. This is a reason that so many people like starting the day with a bowl of oatmeal or an egg white omelet.
So how do you make low calorie meals that are both high in fiber and protein. The easiest way is by having trying LightFull Satiety Smoothies. Each 90-calorie 8.25 oz. smoothie has 5 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber in a rich and creamy drink that is all-natural with no artificial sweeteners or preservatives. They’re also a excellent source of calcium, and are low glycemic and gluten free, too. And with zero fat grams each drink is equal to ONE Weight Watchers POINTS!
Yummy, yummy I have a full tummy!
LightFull’s PR firm sent me a box of their smoothies to try out. There are five flavors: Mango Oasis, Chocolate Satisfaction, Peachy Cream, Strawberry Bliss, Café Latte. While LightFull Satiety Smoothies do not have to be refrigerated, they taste better cold.
I was surprised how tasty they were and liked that they were made of wholesome ingredients like natural sweeteners and yogurt. I really loved the Café Latte – just as tasty as any kind of mocha smoothie you’d get at Starbucks or DQ but with a whole lot more nutrition and way less calories. The Chocolate Satisfaction reminded me a little bit of a chocolate Yoo-hoo drink including the grittiest. Even so, the nostalgic taste put a smile on my face. All the fruit based smoothies were also delicious and were very similar in taste to some of the probiotic yogurt drinks I’ve been sampling lately.
On a hectic day last week, I had on LightFull for breakfast and another for lunch. I wasn’t really hungry until 4 p.m. that day. LightFull claims that their satiety smoothies keep people full 2 to 3 hours on average, which was what I experienced. I don’t recommend living off the stuff though. Instead, have a LightFull when you are too rushed to make a healthy meal. Or drink them as a between meal snack.
I gotta get me one of those!
So where can you buy LightFull Satiety Smoothies? Go to the LightFull buy page to find out what stores carry it. (Safeway, King Soopers and Vitamin Cottage all carry it in my area.) Even better, you can buy LightFull Satiety Smoothies through Amazon with FREE shipping and no tax.
The cost of one case (12 bottles) of one flavor of LightFull Satiety Smoothies is $28. A mixed case of 15 bottles is $37.99. The items ship for free with Super Saver Shipping. For 20% off all Café Latte Cases, use promotion code LATTELIG at checkout. To save 15% off any flavor, use promotion code LIGHTF15. (I ordered a case of the Café Latte just for me, which ended up being $22.40 with the discount. Yes, I liked the product enough to buy it!)
If you join Amazon’s Subscribe & Save Program, you can get 15% off every order of LightFull, plus free delivery! To sign up, click on your flavor of choice above. (Update 10/30/09: I'm not positive, but Lightfull Smoothies may have gone out of business. Amazon no longer carries them and I can only find them for sale on eBay.)
