Too Lijit to quit – a contest for bloggers

lijit logo O.K. all you bloggers gather around because I’m having a contest and giving away 32 prizes to publicize the Lijit Search Wijit, a wonderful blog search tool that gives your readers the opportunity to actively search through your posts, bookmarks, and blogroll so they receive the most relevant search results from a source they trust – YOU.

Why am I holding this at a food and diet blog? Well if you’re like Kalyn at Kayln’s Kitchen or Elise at Simply Recipes, you have an index of your recipes. Or if your like me you don’t (oops – bad food blogger!) and have no way of finding your recipes. Thanks to Lijit, when I need to find that recipe for eggless chocolate cake, I type it into the Lijit Search Wijit and a search page comes up with my answer. Not only that, but once a week via email, Lijit sends me detailed search statistics of what my readers are interested in. (I can also go to their site and get stats any time I want.)

The Contest Rules

It’s easy to enter:

  1. Go to the Lijit site, sign up and install the widget on your blog.
  2. Come back here and leave a comment letting me know it’s up by leaving your name, email address and your website URL. If it’s not in a sidebar, let me know exactly where it is on your blog, too.
  3. You have until Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at midnight MT to enter.
  4. You can install the widget on as many blogs as you own – one entry per blog. So if you own five blogs and install the widget on all of them, you’ll have five entries in the contest. Please leave one comment listing all the blogs (and their URLs).
  5. You can win more than one prize. (See below for a list of prizes.) For example, if you put the widget on four of your blogs, you have four entries into the contest. If I pick two of those entries, you win two prizes.
  6. I will pick the entries randomly out of a hat (well, a bag) to determine who wins.
  7. Winners will be announced on Friday, March 7, 2008. I will then mail out the prizes the following week via U.S. Mail.

But there are rules:

  1. Do not enter if you don’t want to give me your full name and mailing address. I will not share your personal info with the public. Instead, I will just link to your blog when I announce the winners.
  2. You don’t have to be a food or diet blogger. I don’t care what your blog’s subject matter is as long as it meets the ACCEPTABLE USE AND CONDUCT rules at Lijit. (See section 3.1 for specifics.) So no porn, no spam, no racist crap, etc.
  3. I will be checking everyone’s blog to make sure it’s installed. Also, I will be checking with Lijit to confim that you signed up as part of this contest. To make sure that you sign up correctly, click here or any of the other Lijit links in this post.
  4. If you already have the Lijit widget on your blog, you can’t enter the contest.
  5. No, you can’t request what prize you want. Sorry, but that’ll make things way too complicated. Everything will be given out randomly. Heck, if you don’t like what you got, give it to someone else or donate it to charity.
  6. The contest is only open to bloggers in the continental U.S.
  7. Email me at thewritespotblogs at gmail dot com if you have any questions.

(Full disclosure: I’m doing this contest to help out my friend, Jim Turner at One by One Media. After I volunteered, Lijit was nice enough to offer to send me an Amazon gift card for an undetermined amount depending on how many of you folks install the widget. I doubt this will cover my mailing expenses, but what the heck. Mama needs books, so sign up and enter!)

The Prizes

Besides some linky love from me and possibly the folks at Lijit, you have a chance to win one or more of these prizes. I also have a few Lijit stickers and t-shirts that I’ll give them out at random along with the prizes.

I’ve done it, I’ve gone ahead and put this on my blog. I’ll probably put it on my other blog, too. What it shows me is how totally viral social networking really is. I’m going to update my blogroll now! Overall, I’m impressed by what you’re doing, whether I win or not.

Well nuts… We already have this thing installed… So guess I can’t enter. I saw your reference to it on Twitter and virtually ran over here.

We just switched to wordpress from blogger, but I found that my readers love the lijit, and I get their lijitimate website exploration and stickiness out of it, to coin an adverb.

So you could say, “Come for the prizes. Stay for the cool service”.

Very cool tool – I want to win a prize but thought Lijit was too cool to hide from my blogger friend.

I have my eye on one of those yoga workouts or the Baby Einstein.;)

1st off, I did not install Ligit as part of the contest, so I don’t expect a prize.

But I love the little guys so much that I want to just add my voice in here, and add to all the new Ligit users that they shouldn’t stop with just the search widget!

The Recent Readers widget gives you and your readers an instant feel for who else in the world is looking at what you’re looking at. Ligit is probably one of the coolest and most useful tools I have ever seen…

I have no relationship with Ligit except that of a happy user.

I’m not really interested in the contest or the prizes, but I installed Lijit yesterday and I like the way it looks and how easy it is to showcase the places where I am also participating. Great tool!
