Week 20: On Hold

J0426560My apologies for not posting more and missing last week’s weigh in. But the knee is still screwed up and after going into town twice to see two different doctors, I’m going to have surgery on November 29th to fix it. (Why the delay? Between my husband’s two hunting trips, my trip to Vegas for the BlogWorld Expo, and Thanksgiving, it’s the earliest I can have it. Until then, I’ll be hitting the Advil and icing it.)

Not exercising on the Extreme Fat Smash Diet is a problem since it’s part of the overall strategy for increaing metabolism and losing weight. I’ve been trying to stay on the food plan, but I’ve gained a bit. I’m at 153 now, which isn’t bad considering I have strayed several times and can’t work out. Still, when I’m not following the online menu for the day, I’m eating typical Extreme Fat Smash Diet, for example plain, no-fat yogurt with fruit, salads, or Amy’s Lentil Soup. And I’m keeping goodies out of the house, including "healthy" cereals like Kashi Go Lean. I tend to binge on them too much.

My Dieting Strategy Until Physical Therapy Starts in December

  1. Keep on the Extreme Fat Smash Diet as much as possible, except I will be eliminating one meal or two snacks every day if I’m unable to exercise.
  2. Wear clothes that keep me honest. I recently bought new bras and jeans. They’re a teeny bit smug and should help me stay motivated.
  3. Get back on that darn bike! Boy, I really wish I could now. I tried yesterday and I still can’t bend my knee enough to do it without hurting. So, I’m going to look into upper body workouts and maybe things like leg lifts that don’t require bending my knee.

As you can tell, I haven’t been enthusiastic about blogging here either. Frankly, I’m just tired these days. As my friend Maria who has MS says, "Being in pain is tiring." Limping around like a proto-human doesn’t help either.

I’m going to keep this post short so I can write up some posts that I’ve promised as well as some great Weight Watcher pumpkin recipes for Halloween and Thanksgiving. Thanks for your patience, dear readers, I really appreciate it.

(((Big hugs))) Being in pain all the time is exhausting, both physically and mentally.

I’m sorry to hear you have to have surgery, but I pray it will ease your pain and heal quickly.

My pain has kept me from the gym, but I’m sticking pretty close to FSD so I’ve maintained my weight loss (yay!).

Here’s to both of us feeling better and losing more ;)
