Week 15: Back on the wagon

J0427604Sorry not to update this weekend. Since I was hosting the Carnival of Recipes, I wanted to give that post a few days in the top spot before updating you all.

Well, I was having a really great week and weighed in at about 150 on Saturday morning. Then the rest of the weekend was a blur because I ended up getting busy doing family projects that I hadn’t planned for like special loads of laundry, brining a roast to make pulled pork, going to Mah Jong with new friends from my writing group, and cleaning the house for guests.

Then Monday turned into a flurry of writing, swim lessons, cookies, Diet Coke and leftover pulled pork (not to mention that I was hung over from all the wine I drank Sunday night). I didn’t get to exercise either. Dammit.

Diet_partner_teaBut now I’m back on the Extreme Fat Smash Diet and drinking my Celestial Seasoning’s Diet Partner Tea to detox. I’m planning to work out extra hard today as soon as I finish this post, have a light snack, and take Lucie to preschool.

Let’s see how I did on my goals from last week:

  1. Try a different exercise routine. I’m loving the interval workouts on the stationary bike. Not only does it save time, I’m seeing more results and a trimmer body. (What’s an interval workout? Read my post For Maximum Weight Loss, Make Your Workouts More Intense over at Incredible Shrinking Ladies.)
  2. Set a date for losing another 10 pounds. Yep, it’s still at November 7.
  3. Try new Extreme Fat Smash Diet recipes. Well, I wanted to, but I either had lots of leftovers to choose from or didn’t have the ingredients on hand. I did try putting bananas in my Cream of Wheat for breakfast though – does that count? (It was delicious by the way.)
  4. Plan better. Suuuuuure. Like I wrote last week, I need to start making time to pack lunch and snacks every day.
  5. Download motivational podcasts. I downloaded the entire catalog of DietDetective.com‘s podcasts. They very professional and informative, but MiddleAgeShed‘s are funnier and more down to earth.
  6. Blogging. I wrote a new 5 Things/Ways post called Five Ways to Save Money at the Gym. It got picked up by the BlogHer network, so I got some new readers to my blog. Welcome!
  7. Support. I spend almost too much time visiting my favorite weight loss bloggers. It was nice catching up though.

This week’s goals:

  1. Stay on the Extreme Fat Smash food plan! My weight loss goal is 2 pounds this week.*
  2. Exercise everyday!
  3. Plan better!
  4. Keep motivated! Listen to my podcasts in the car or while working out. But just a quick glance at my NetVibes to keep up with my weight loss blogger faves.
  5. Blog! I’m going to make the an Extreme Fat Smash spinach frittata this week, so my goal is to post that, a review of Dreamfields Healthy Low Carb Rotini Pasta, an original recipe for a chai soy drink, and possibly another 5 Things/Ways post.

* On the Celebrity Fit Club show, Dr. Ian Smith gives each contestant a weight loss goal for the week. The Celebrity Fit Club website does this, too. I’m going to start reporting it here for accountability and motivation. We’ll see how it works.

Congrats for being back on track! I’d like to endorse interval training as well–it may seem painful on a treadmill, but the end result is totally worth the increased effort. Just don’t overdo it!
