Week 14: Trying to Get Motivated

151.

Do I really need to discuss my weight loss this week? I went up a couple of pounds last week due to the back injury and going out of town for Labor Day. Then I promptly lost it after going back to eating properly and working out on the stationary bike. Same old crap.

I’m still hoving around 150 and frankly I’m getting bored with the whole weight loss plan. So what do I need to do to get motivated? Here are my thoughts:

J0405148Try a different exercise routine. I’m completely recovered from my back injury (Yipee for Vicodin and muscle relaxants!) My knee is 90% good, but I still cannot get all the way into a child’s pose in yoga. (Just cannot bend my knee enough to be able to sit on my heels.) So no yoga for now. Instead, I’m going to try doing the higher intensity interval workouts that are programed into my stationary bike.

What’s an interval workout? Read my post For Maximum Weight Loss, Make Your Workouts More Intense over at Incredible Shrinking Ladies.

Set a date for losing another 10 pounds. I’m setting it for November 7, the day I plan to go to Las Vegas for the start of the BlogWorld conference. Since it’s more of a professional business type conference, I’d love to fit into the gorgeous suits I bought a couple of years back.

Try new Extreme Fat Smash Diet recipes. I’m getting into a food rut, so I’m going to the Celebrity Fit Club site to pick some new recipes. The great thing about doing this diet online is that I can preplan my menus for the week and print out a shopping list. Best of all, I’ll have new dishes to share with you!

Plan better. I need to start making time to pack lunch and snacks every day. Eating whatever is in front of me is not an option.

Motivational podcasts. Doing Geneen Roth’s When Food Is Food & Love Is Love: A Step-by-Step Spiritual Program to Break Free from Emotional Eating CD program is excellent but time consuming. She requires you to spend time on visualizations and writing down things, which is hard since I listen to her on the iPod when I’m working out or driving. I just don’t have the time to dedicate to it right now.

Instead, I need to find some good podcasts. I love listening to the ladies at MiddleAgeShed because they have British accents right out of a Wallace & Gromit movie. Still something that’s tip and information oriented could be more helpful. Suggestions anyone?

Blogging. I owe my readers some new 5 Things/Ways posts. After all they’re meant to motivate you, so I hope writing them will motivate me as well. I also want to keep building on my This Mama Cooks! On a Diet Store at Amazon.com by adding workout videos, equipment and clothes.

Support. Finally, I need to visit some of my favorite weight loss bloggers – nothing more inspiring than getting tips and advice from others going through a similar journey.

I read something today about staying motivated. Try challenging someone to a weight loss competition. (It works best if it’s someone you don’t really like because then you’re motivated to beat them at all costs. But it’s OK if they think you’re just the best of buds.) Whoever loses 10 pounds first, lifts the most weight, or whatever you choose, wins. Make the prize something special–a spa treatment, etc. The loser pays. Anyway, just a thought.
