I lost a couple of pounds this week and am officially down 8.4 pounds! I haven’t had a chance to take my measurements, but I did go to Kohl’s to try on clothes. I’m down two dress sizes, which is exciting, too.
However, I’m still frustrated that I’m not further along. And I’m feeling regular urges to go stuff my face. I’ve put them off so far by reasoning that I’m not hungry. (I truly am not.) But still there’s that "empty feeling" that keeps asking to be filled up with food. I know it’s emotionally based, so I try to combat it by keeping busy and finding ways to pamper myself (massages, good books, movies, etc.). Still, I’m desperately trying to figure out why the urges keep popping up.
Luckly I read a wonderful article by Geneen Roth in my Celebrity Fit Club e-newsletter. Geenen writes books and gives seminars on emotional eating. She says:
It’s entirely possible to break free from emotional eating. You can be someone who walks around without thoughts of food occupying the main portion of your mental life.
The bad news, of course, is that the work of transformation is up to you, and the work itself is a journey that never ends.
I explored Geneen’s website and have reserved a copy of When Food Is Food & Love Is Love: A Step-by-Step Spiritual Program to Break Free from Emotional Eating. I’ll let you know what I think about it when I have a chance to listen to the program.
Have you read any of Geneen’s books, like Breaking Free from Emotional Eating? If so, what did you think of her advice?

Can’t wait to read your review of that–sounds like something I should read. Definitely an emotional eater!
