Exploring the Benefits of Coconut Oil

Coconut_hand_creamMmmmmm, coconut oil. The smell reminds me of pina coladas and warm summer days at the beach. But did you know that coconut oil is good for you?

According to Bath Body Junky, it can lower cholesterol, help you lose weight, and fight infections. For the skin, coconut oil is an excellent moisturizer that can help your skin remain wrinkle-free. It can also soothe and cool the skin, thus helping to reduce overall stress. Some people use coconut oil for acne care as well.

Bath Body Junky carries a whole line of Asquith & Somerset of England’s coconut oil products. The coconut hand cream would come in handy (oops, bad pun) after a long day constantly washing your hands and utensils in the kitchen.

But what about cooking with coconut oil? Books like The Coconut Diet: The Secret Ingredient That Helps You Lose Weight While You Eat Your Favorite Foods and Coconut Oil: For Health and Beauty promote it as a weight loss and health aid, and give ways to use it in recipes.

Nutiva_coconut_oilCan't find it at your local supermarket? You can buy Nutiva Organic Coconut Oil at Amazon, believe it or not. According to Nutiva, nutritionists suggest enjoying up to 3 tablespoons of extra-virgin coconut oil each day. Their cold-pressed coconut oil is raw, extra-virgin, pure white, and certified organic. It's ideal as high-heat cooking oil (up to 350 degrees), as a nutritious substitute in baking, a better-than-butter replacement on bread, vegetables or popcorn, and as a luscious oil for skin care, hair care, and massage.

America needs an oil change. Consider coconut oil in your food or in your bath.
