Today PARADE magazine launched The Great American Bake Sale 2005 with a national cover story. During this time, all Americans are encouraged to register at www.greatamericanbakesale.org and participate by hosting bake sales in their communities.
All funds raised will be donated to Share Our Strength, which will then award grants to innovative nonprofits fighting childhood hunger in the United States. Participants who register for The Great American Bake Sale 2005 will also have the option of designating the funds that they have raised to hunger programs in the areas hit hardest by Hurricane Katrina.
Thanks to more than one million generous Americans baking and buying at bake sales across the country, The Great American Bake Sale has raised more than $2.7 million since 2003.
Listen it doesn’t have to be fancy. Get together with some friends and the kids, buy a bunch of brownie and cake mix and premade frosting (I like Duncan Hines the best) and go for it. You’ll have fun, and it’ll be for a wonderful cause.
