This Mama Cooks! reader, Lorna Palmer, the Executive Director for The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Central Oklahoma, sent me the following email: I have become familiar with your blog from the BOB awards. I love reading your entries. I have a favor/question. I work for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation [...]

I came across this recipe at Broken or Not while cruising BlogExplosion. It sounded so good I felt I must post it here at This Mama Cooks! What intrigued me was while it’s called a cake, it has no eggs. Just the sort of recipe I’m looking for the egg-sensitive Boo Girl, thanks Kris. (She’s [...]

Here are the cakes I made for Monkey Boy’s at home birthday celebration and his bowling party. (He turned five.) I used discontinued Wilton pans for both cakes. Unfortunately, the pictures I took of the mini cupcakes I made for his preschool class didn’t turn out. Neither did the picture of the mini cake I [...]

After determining that Boo Girl really doesn’t like cake or frosting (what a weird child) I’ve decided to look into ice cream cakes. I found an enticing list here. Which one to choose? Then there’s the dilemna of leftovers. After scarfing down last week’s Super Bowl party’s leftovers the entire week, I gained three pounds. [...]

Chocolate mousse should be considered the dessert for Valentine’s Day. It’s decadent and fairly easy to make. And thanks to the St. Julia, we have the perfect chocolate mousse recipe in her book, The Way to Cook. My mom often made this (a slightly different version was in Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Volume [...]

I love it when my readers write in with a request or a recipe. This soup sounds particularly delicious and super healthy. I’ll have to make it soon! Mother Hester writes: Here’s a recipe for roasted red pepper soup that I keep on hand and make almost every week as I take my lunch to [...]

Thank goodness, I finally found a recipe using ground beef (or in my case ground venison) that wasn’t chili. Nothing against chili. It’s just that we make it too much with all the ground venison we have in the freezer. The recipe, from a Weight Watchers recipe board member, is for beef and eggplant bake. [...]

Here’s a recipe that a woman passed out at my Weight Watchers meeting last Saturday. It’s delicious and oh so healthy. Everyone in your family should enjoy this taco soup though it’s so thick I’d call it a taco stew. Taco Soup (1 cup = 4 Weight Watchers POINTS) Brown 1 lb. very lean chopped meat [...]

How dare you think I’d leave my fellow Weight Watchers in a lurch on Super Bowl Sunday! Below is a Weight Watchers recipe for New England clam chowder. They managed to get the usual recipe down from 8 points to 5 per 1 1/2 cup serving by using no-fat milk instead of cream and turkey [...]

I was on the Weight Watchers recipe board looking for some new recipes for ground meat. I’m so tired of making the usual variations on chili. And while I haven’t found a new one yet, I did find this amazing list of Weight Watchers crockpot recipe sites that “CNANGO” posted. So I thought I’d share [...]
